Objective: Today, organizations need employees who, in addition to performing their official duties, are enthusiastic, interested, and committed to their work and organization, and the organization is also expected to provide suitable working conditions and necessary support for their employees.The purpose of this research is to identify the antecedents of occupational and organizational engagement of employees and academic staff members in Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. Methodology: This research in terms of strategy is a survey-descriptive study and in terms of purpose is a developmental applied research. The statistical population of the research is the employees and academic staff members of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz (1905 people), of which 320 people were selected as a sample using stratified random sampling. Standard and valid questionnaires with validity and reliability were used to collect data, and data analysis was done by using path analysis method, structural equation modeling and using Smart PLS software. Results: In this applied study, first the theoretical foundations and literature review of the subject were studied. Then, with the participation of faculty members and university employees, in response to standard questionnaires, the factors affecting occupational and organizational engagement were identified and categorized into four categories: individual, occupational, managerial and organizational factors. Also, the results of data analysis showed that the current situation of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, is higher than average (3.6) in terms of job engagement among employees and academic staff members; and their organizational engagement is slightly lower than average (2.9). Separating the two groups showed that the job engagement of professors was significantly higher than that of employees and the organizational engagement of employees was higher than that of academic staff members. The effectiveness of each of the factors is explained in details and at the end practical suggestions are presented to improve and promote the job and organizational engagement of university staff and academic staff members. Conclusion: Considering the importance of job and organizational engagement, identifying individual, occupational, organizational and managerial outcomes of engagement and improving these factors can lead to the improvement of occupational and organizational engagement of academic staff members and employees.
