The study (education, safety, economic and social - cultural) status of international students. ihej 2016; 7 (2) :71-112

the main purpose of this research is to investigate safety, economic and social - cultural condition of foreign students at public universities in the 1392-93 academic year. Therefore, based on survey methodology using a questionnaire, survey data were collected from 95 international students of Tehran University, ShahidBeheshti University, Tarbiat Modarres University, Qazvin Imam Khomeini University, and University of Medical Sciences of Mashhad. Data analysis showed that % 66.3 foreign students can complete courses at their appointed time, 80% of them have not failed ever since starting their studies in aforementioned universities. But those who were experiencing academic failure noted factors such as problems related to the "Language", "lack of motivation", "the inability of the lecturers to deliver the right content" and "difficulty of content course" as most involved factors. They stated that they feel most secure "during the day and at university" and the least secure "in the evening and while using public transportation". Most of them, % 73.7, are of "medium to high" economic situation to live in Iran. Approximately % 58.1 of the students stated that professors do not discriminate against them. % 81.1 of them felt that Iranian’s discriminating against foreigners is at "moderate level and beyond". While % 78.5 of them believed that Iranian students discriminate against foreigners at an "average level and more than that".
