Investigating the relationship learning style and thinking style in students of Technical - Engineering and Psychology- Educational Sciences colleges of Tehran University

he aim of this research is investigating the relationship between learning styles and thinking styles in students. Population consists of whole BA and MA students of Technical- Engineering and Psychology- Educational Sciences colleges of Tehran University. A sample of 200 students (50 Psychology- Educational Sciences college, 150 Technical- Engineering college) who were selected using the stratified sampling method was identified. To measure research variables, 2 questionnaires were used; Sternberg’s Thinking Style and Vark’s Learning Style questionnaires. To test the research hypotheses, Pearson correlation and stepwise regression statistical methods were used. The results showed that in the learning style, the visual style is the dominant style of most of the Technical - Engineering students and the reading–writing style is the dominant style of the students of Psychology- Educational Sciences.
